Antecedentes
The availability of biomarkers that predict response to treatment is essential for the development of personalized medicine, avoiding ineffective treatments and unnecessary toxicities in non-responder patients, thus allowing efficient management of these drugs, which have a high economic impact. On the other hand, identifying patients at higher risk of disease progression or relapse can help to tailor subsequent treatments based on this risk, in this sense it is possible to adjust the doses or duration of treatments or plan subsequent lines of treatment, prioritizing the course of the disease, thus allowing for rapid and effective management of these patients.
La invención
The present invention relates in one aspect to an in vitro method for identifying a subject suitable for treatment with a combination of immunotherapy and chemotherapy, comprising determining the absence of a somatic mutation in at least two of the genes EGFR, KMT2C, APC, ERBB3, and HNF1A, and/or the absence of a germline mutation in PBRM1 in a biological sample from the subject, wherein the subject is afflicted with cancer.
