Biological Safety Committee (BSC)

The Biological Safety Committee (CSB) of the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda originated from the need to assess studies, requirements, procedures or any other work activity involving the handling of biological material, such as genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

It assesses the safety and feasibility of the study at our facilities, so that the work is carried out while minimising the risk for staff exposed to this type of material.

The IIS Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda, as a public research and teaching body, is aware of its responsibility to society and, accordingly, has set up a CSB in order to provide an agile and effective response to current or future needs regarding the scientific research carried out within its scope, with a view to protecting the well-being of the centre's staff, the environment, and respect for the bioethical principles and commitments assumed by the scientific community and by the aims of the IIS Puerta de Hierro itself.
