The Instituto de Investigación biomédica Puerta de Hierro has various units supporting the research work of its professionals. These units include the Hospital Library Unit, whose objectives include supporting and advising all professionals on matters relating to literature searches, information on bibliometric indicators, interlibrary loans and access to subscribed information resources (journals and e-books).

For access to these resources, the virtual library has a website, integrated into the Hospital's institutional website www.madrid.org/hospitalpuertadehierro/biblioteca  where, once logged in, users can make use of them. It also has a large study room with capacity for 60 people. It has 12 computers with Internet access, spread between the lower room and a room located on the upper floor
