The Nursing and Health Care Research Group has a recognised track record in research in this area, both nationally and internationally. Hospital Puerta de Hierro is the hospital with the longest track record in nurse-led research in the Community of Madrid, and among the first at national level (1994-2024). Of the 35 Health Research Institutes Accredited by the ISCIII (2009-2023), IDIPHISA was one of the first six to have its Nursing and Health Care Research Group recognised (accredited in May 2014).
Our Group, made up of 29 researchers, includes 19 professionals with a PhD (65.5%), 5 currently pursuing their PhD, and 4 with a Master's degree. Several of the researchers are specialists (Midwifery, Family and Community Nursing, Geriatrics). The group is made up of 26 nurses and 3 physiotherapists, from different settings: Hospital (HU Puerta de Hierro, H Guadarrama, HU Infanta Cristina and HU Fundación Alcorcón), University (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad Europea de Madrid, Universidad Camilo José Cela), Primary Care (CS Las Rozas-El Abajón, CS Gregorio Marañón, CS Los Yébenes, CS Valle de la Oliva), Instituto de Salud Carlos III and the Ministry of Health.
In recent years, work has been done to create, strengthen and maintain synergies between the different researchers in the group, according to the subject matter of the projects and the lines of research in which they are involved. Strategies have been sought to strengthen synergies between healthcare centres and universities, given that the academic research fabric, as well as the growing development of doctoral theses, provide the group with training and research capacity, as well as collaborative and integrated scientific output.
The Nursing and Health Care Research Group has a stable structure that is also dynamic, as the incorporation of new research staff is progressive, depending on the group's growth opportunities and the merits contributed by the candidate researcher, with a clear interest in attracting talent and increasing the Group's critical mass.
