DNA Sequencing and Molecular Biology Unit
The Unit's main objective is to provide support to research groups in Molecular Biology techniques by making major specialised equipment available to them. It has the necessary expertise and infrastructure to provide the following services:
- Massive parallel sequencing of targeted panels (Illumina MiSeq technology)
- DNA sequencing by Sanger reaction and capillary electrophoresis
- Fragment analysis by capillary electrophoresis
- Endpoint PCR reactions
- Real-time PCR (LC480-Roche equipment). Gene expression quantification and genotyping
- Measurement of DNA quality and concentration by spectrophotometry and using nucleic acid analysis equipment (Tape Station 4150 and Bioanalyzer 2100). Fluorimetric quantification of nucleic acids
- Since the end of 2024, a single-cell separation platform has been available for carrying out “omic” studies, thanks to an infrastructure grant from the Carlos III Institute (IFEQ22/00173).
FEES
Interested users, whether researchers from the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Puerta de Hierro or external researchers, should contact the Unit by e-mail with a brief explanation of the project they wish to carry out, and will receive a specific quote based on the number of samples to be analysed, the number of reactions, the type of reaction chemistry, the cost of consumables and the current rates for advice and analysis.
