Executive Management
The Executive Director of the Fundación para la Investigación Biomédica del Hospital Universitario Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda is appointed by the Foundation's Board of Trustees.
The position of Director of the Foundation is currently held by D.Fernando Neira Álvarez
Functions
- To comply with and enforce the resolutions of the Board of Trustees and the instructions of its Chair, being empowered to carry out any kind of act and sign any documents necessary for this purpose.
- To manage the Foundation's activities and operations
- To draw up and propose to the Board of Trustees the annual budget of income and expenses and, where applicable, any amendments thereto, as well as the Activity Report, the Balance Sheet, the Income Statement and the Inventory.
- To manage and administer, on an ordinary basis, the Foundation's assets, in accordance with the powers conferred by the Board of Trustees in this regard, keeping the inventory up to date.
- To arrange payments and manage treasury in accordance with the criteria approved by the Board of Trustees, and to oversee the Foundation's accounting, ensuring proper compliance with applicable criteria and principles.
- To purchase goods and services and contract works and supplies for the Foundation within the amounts and limits approved by the Board of Trustees in this regard.
- To report quarterly to the Board of Trustees on the Foundation's activities and management results.
- To develop the personnel policy approved by the Board of Trustees and, to this end, select staff, enter into or terminate contracts, implement the Board of Trustees' resolutions on remuneration, agree on sanctions, exercise senior management over staff serving the Foundation, and carry out any other actions entrusted in this area.
- To maintain relations with staff representation bodies within the Foundation.
- To draw up and propose to the Board of Trustees the Foundation's Research Plan and the specific programmes and projects to be carried out under it, submitting the proposal for prior review by the Foundation's Scientific Committee.
- To maintain the Foundation's relations with the healthcare centre's management bodies, and to propose to the Board of Trustees the creation of coordination groups or committees when necessary.
The Foundation receives public and private funding:
- Public bodies: MINECO, ISCIII, MISSI, MINETUR, CM, FSE, FEDER, etc. (see publicly funded projects)
- Private entities: Pharmaceutical laboratories, private companies, Foundations, Associations, etc. (see privately funded projects)
Likewise, the principal investigators of each project may receive donations from entities or individuals.
